Click here to see what a Universe Day group in San Francisco did at a previous annual Universe Day. Just like "Earth Day" events, we encourage you to invent your own local awareness celebrations, gatherings, creative partnerships with organizations, educational events, and community events. We dare you to inspire outside-the-box on ways to promote awareness for effectively reducing carbon emissions by using the new universe evolutionary perspective to create a more sustainable planet.
Please send us information about the local Universe Day events that you are creating at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will let others know about them. We will also be posting updates about our local San Francisco Universe day 2013 event in the Facebook window father down this page.
Our true ancestry is the emergent creativity of the Universe. Our forebears were those who learned how to coalesce hydrogen and helium into stars, to form planets, to sustain life first from mineral nutrients in the sea and later to capture delicious photons, to exploit oxygen for energy rather than be exterminated by it, to diversify via sexual reproduction, to form social groups for greater security and protection of offspring. We are the beneficiaries (and, admittedly, also the victims) of this narrative of emergence. Our ‘companions’ are all of these progenitors. Indeed, they are more than companions; they are family. From them we have inherited our corporeal shapes and movements, our body chemistry, and even some of our behavioral agendas.

Press Release 1 March 7, 2015
San Francisco, CA
The 7th annual Universe Day this December 31st through January 1st. Universe Day celebrates the official birthday of the Universe at this time each year. It also expands upon the Earth Day idea in that individuals and organizations all over the planet are encouraged to design their own events to forward each new Universe Day message. This year the Universe day message is taking global warming action.
Universe Day is also a bit different from Earth Day, in that it educates about how the principles of universe and planetary evolution can be used to successfully solve our greatest personal and societal challenges. Universe Day this year is also focused on solving our planet’s largest challenge the global warming/climate destabilization cliff by using a universe-scaled evolutionary worldview.
The Universe Day annual messages are derived in part from the wisdom of Albert Einstein, who said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” The challenges we now face on a planetary scale—such as severe climate destabilization, wars, environmental pollution and an unstable global economy—have serious consequences. Rather than allow ourselves to feel overwhelmed by these challenges, we can, as Einstein suggests, adopt an entirely new way of thinking. Such is the impetus behind Universe Day: to expand our awareness of new approaches to solving these issues by adopting the broader and more useful scale of thinking as found in a new Universe Evolutionary Worldview.
"Evolution of the universe is the core system process that sustains our existence—both personal and planetary. We are all embedded in this unstoppable developmental flow of the universe's evolutionary process, which is the single most dominant and controlling factor of all life," says Lawrence Wollersheim, a director at the Universe Institute. "Recent innovations in cosmology and evolutionary biology have revealed more about the evolution of life and the cosmos in the last twenty years than in all the previous eras of human history. For the first time, humanity is now capable of seeing itself from the biggest possible perspective. Humanity has finally found itself and its place embedded within the biggest, most successful, inter-connected and inter-dependent process there is—universe evolution."
In true Millennial style, the Universe Day message and event is a no-ownership, no-egos, get-the-message-out-now local and international co-created event. Imitate it, adapt it, improve it. “Steal it, even, if it hastens the spread of its vital message,” says Wollersheim.
Universe Day (TheUniverseDay.org) invites everyone everywhere to self-organize and create their own local events. For tips on how to do this are found at http://theuniverseday.org/node/9#.VJ38p0AOAI

December 31st, 2014: The 7th Annual Universe Day Sparks New Universe Perspective and New Hope for Life, Society and the Environment
A new Universe Evolutionary Worldview has evolved. Universe Day celebrates the official birthday of the Universe at this time each year and promotes a new worldview as a better tool for effectively managing the biggest challenges that face our planet today like severe climate change.
San Francisco, CA December 31, 2015 -- Universe Day is an annual event that starts each December 31st at noon and runs until noon on January 1st 2016. Universe Day seeks to pick up where Earth Day leaves off by educating about how the principles of evolution can be used to successfully solve our personal and societal challenges and more effectively solving our planet’s biggest problem the climate cliff and climate destabilization using a bigger universe evolutionary perspective.
The message behind Universe Day is derived in part from the wisdom of Albert Einstein, who said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” As most people are aware, the challenges we now face on a planetary scale—such as the climate cliff, severe climate destabilization, war, pollution, environmental degradation and a troubled global economy—have serious consequences. Rather than allow ourselves to feel overwhelmed by these challenges, however, we can, as Einstein suggests, adopt an entirely new way of thinking. Such is the impetus behind Universe Day: to expand our approach to these issues by adopting the much broader Universe Evolutionary Worldview.
"The progressive evolution of the universe as a whole system is the power that sustains our physical existence—both personal and planetary. We are embedded in the unstoppable flow of the evolutionary process, which, though invisible, is the most dominant factor in all of life and in everything around us," says Wollersheim. "Recent discoveries in cosmology and evolutionary biology have revealed more about the evolution of life and the cosmos in the last twenty years than in all the previous eras of human history combined. This is no small knowledge improvement. Humanity is now capable of understanding the full evolutionary scope of the biggest perspective and playing field there is—the evolving universe."
Part of the message of Universe Day is that universe-scaled evolutionary science can help individuals work more effectively together to rise to meet the most critical planetary challenges of our time --- global warming AKA climate destabilization. “For starters,” Wollersheim says, “this requires that we all step up to ‘Job One For All Humanity’ and do the hard work that is necessary in order to lessen the human-caused carbon emissions that are causing our planet’s climate cliff and severe climate destabilization. Job One for Humanity also includes creating a more sustainable environment for succeeding generations, since severe climate destabilization is already beginning to adversely affect everyone on the planet.”
"Universe Day is similar to Earth Day in that individuals and organizations all over the planet are encouraged to self-organize their own events and meet-ups to forward the Universe Day message. Universe Day is a no-ownership, no-egos, get-the-message-out-now viral event. Imitate it, adapt it, improve it. Steal it, even, if it hastens the spread of its message,” says Lawrence Wollersheim, Director of the Universe Institute and one of the founders of Universe Day.
Universe Day (TheUniverseDay.org) invites everyone everywhere to self-organize and create their own local events. Click here for tips on how to do this.
The Sixth Annual Universe Day is facilitated by The Universe Institute and Universe Spirit organizations. The Universe Institute (universeinstitute.org) is a non-profit think tank that researches the world’s most critical issues from an integration of evolutionary, whole systems, and universe-scaled perspectives while using the new dialectical thinking processes designed for understanding and managing the interacting complex systems affecting our lives.
Universe Spirit (universespirit.org) a non-profit organization that seeks to educate people about how the Universe Evolutionary Worldview, responsible Universe Citizenship and a new universe science grounded spirituality can be used to create a just, prosperous and sustainable world for all.
